Brooding Skies

$522.00

This painting was for some reason unlabeled. By the spruces, rocks and churning water, I’d place it somewhere in Ontario—near Thunder Bay on Lake Superior, the north shore of Lake Huron, or Algonquin Provincial Park. Those dark, powerful skies followed us across the Great White North, but my money’s on Algonquin National Park. It just feels like a cold autumn day in the land of Tom Thomson, who’s one of my painting heroes.

In 2016, my daughter Mary and I set off across Alaska and Canada on a Great White North Adventure, which you can read about starting here. We arrived in Anchorage at the beginning of September and got home in mid-October. In retrospect, it might have made more sense to do this during the summer, since Alaska and Canada threw a mess of strange weather at us.
