Quebec Brook

Quebec Brook is a rivulet near Paul Smiths, NY. It’s part of the Madawaska complex, a large area of varied habitat that includes running water, boreal bog and forest. It’s 6.1 miles down a bumpy track to this beaver dam, but was worth every thump on the springs of my old Prius.

An alder thicket rises behind the beaver dam, and in the other direction the creek snakes away, making another painting for another day. It’s a gentle and moving scene of greens, violets and taupe, to your home from the deep wilderness.

Quebec Brook, oil on canvasboard, 12X16, $1449 framed.
