The Harvest is Plenty

This painting is based on a passage from the New Testament, Matthew 9:35-38, which reads, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few…”

The ‘harassed and helpless’ are everywhere you look. It’s, frankly, overwhelming. But if you focus on the storm, you will be paralyzed by fear.

Jake and Tanja work with inmates at the Knox County Jail. Yes, ours is a small county and a small jail. You might dismiss their program as bailing out the ocean with a teaspoon. But that’s how we save the world—one person at a time.

The Harvest is Plenty is 30X40, oil on linen, with a simple black wooden frame.
