Carol L. Douglas, The Joker, figure, oil on canvas, 40″ x 30″
Renée Phillips at Manhattan Arts International just published an essay by me on The Creative Process. It is an artist statement I wrote for an upcoming show, which she liked enough to use. Thanks, Renée!
Have not seen this painting before. Did you do it since we left for Russia? (I like it.)
Hi, Gwendolyn, I did this a few years back. I liked the edginess of the pose–the model so closed in to herself and seeming to feel less than secure about posing nude, although she’s actually a confident and experienced model.
I have been painting up a storm since you left for Russia, though.
