Old Wyoming homestead

My happiest place to paint is from the bed of my Toyota Tundra. In winter, it shields me from the wind and keeps my feet out of standing snow. In summer, it almost compensates for my lack of height.

This is an old cabin on my friend Jane’s ranch near Cody, WY. It was pretty derelict at the time, but it crouches in the lee side of the hill in a way modern homes never do. Jane and her husband are restoring it and I can’t wait to see it in its repaired plumage.

It was a winter’s day–bitterly cold and snowy. Jane’s used to me painting in stupid situations; she just did something else until I got it out of my system.

Old Wyoming Homestead is 9×12, on archival canvasboard, and comes unframed.
