It’s almost October, and suddenly I have artwork everywhere. Not bad for someone who just cruised back into town.
ArtFeeds 5th Annual Exhibition & Silent Auction
September 17–26, Page Gallery, Camden, ME
The Fifth Annual ArtFeeds: Artists-in-Action Against Food Insecurity is a collaboration between midcoast Maine artists, Page Gallery and the Maine State Correctional Facility, to highlight and support AIO’s programs. (That stands for Area Interfaith Outreach.) AIO’s two core programs—Food Assistance and Energy Assistance—ensure that Knox County residents who are food or energy insecure receive the support they need. They also partner with other community service organizations to help clients connect with additional resources. AIO now serves more than 4,000 households a year, with more than 10,000 individual visits to the food pantry.
The finished bowls are on display at Page Gallery on Bayview Street in Camden, with a closing reception on Saturday, September 26, 4–6pm. However, you can bid online until 5 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026. My bowl is here. My student Rachel Houlihan was also juried into this show; her bowl is here. We both focused on the produce aspect, as you can see.
All proceeds will benefit AIO.Â
The Fifth Annual Art Works for Humanity is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County and midcoast Maine artists to benefit Waldo County Habitat. It’s their biggest fundraiser of the year.
The organizers graciously gave me permission to paint in advance because of my travel and teaching schedule, but most painters will be painting around Belfast and Waldo County during this coming week.
The finished pieces will be auctioned off on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 at the Bayview Room of the United Farmer’s Market of Maine, 18 Spring Street, Belfast. There will also be absentee bidding. For tickets, click here. To arrange absentee bidding by phone, call (207) 601-4346.
10th Annual National Juried Exhibition, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Sacramento, CA
The theme of this year’s show at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is Living Water, with art that explicitly references faith and the spirituality suggested by the theme.
Trinity Art Show encourages visual art with a perspective on the Christian view and experience in contemporary life. This year’s show is accompanied by theological comment discussing the concept of Living Water as presented in scripture. The show is an opportunity to reflect on the way theological concepts can be expressed visually.
And last but certainly not least…
Naomi Aho and I finished hanging Drawn to Creation: Two Views on Wednesday, and it looks lovely (if I may say so myself). Our opening is on Saturday, September 26, from 4 to 7 PM at Carol L. Douglas Gallery, 394 Commercial Street in Rockport. While the good Lord is threatening to dump some of that living water on our head in the form of a nor’easter, Naomi and I will be there, happy to discuss the work and our relationship to it.
The show will be up in my gallery until Friday, October 9. The hours are Tuesday-Sunday, noon to five PM.
